ANTI-WRINKLE NIGHT CREAMS Anne Marie Casey recommended this one to me "Clarins Multi-Régénerante Nuit - extra firming night cream" and it certainly hasn't done me any harm. Before that I used to use "Lancôme's Rénergie - double performance treatment anti-wrinkle and firming oil-free fluid" which seemed to do the job as well.

CLEANSER this one is a must and it's excellent value for money. At €15.30 a tube it lasts me about 6 months using it twice a day. If you are prone to spots you should find this helps prevent them.

ANTI-WRINKLE EYE CREAMS just so you know I am not getting a commission from Clarins, I use Lancôme's"Rénergie Yeux - anti-wrinkle and firming eye cream". It doesn't seem to do me any good but I think my crows feet are due more to genes than ineffective eye creams. Apparently Clarin's eye creams are not very good for ageing eyes so, if you're using one, bin it and run out and get something else.

MY LATEST DISCOVERY for those of you who don't wear make up and are prone to an oily t-zone, this one is great for day use, "Clear Difference oil-control hydrator by Estée lauder".

Remove hair dye and/or ink stains from your skin by rubbing the area with the inside of a banana skin.

Get rid of LIP SORES by applying honey to the area. It you leave it on all night, it will be cured by morning (I've no idea if this one works).

An emergency cure for an emerging STY IN THE EYE is to rub something gold like your wedding ring on the palm of your hand until it's warm, then put on the sty.

LOSE WEIGHT by drinking Red Tea. It's supposed to be great for reducing liquid retention and burning fats if taken regularly (1 litre a day for 3 months before you see the results).  Other benefits include reduced colesterol levels, detoxification and an enforced immunity system. If it doesn't do any good put the tea to another use, see "SUN TAN" entry below.

Cure MOSCITO BITES by rubbing the sting with half a freshly sliced clove of garlic.

Relieve SUNBURN by bathing burns in cider vinegar.

and conserve your SUNTAN by bathing in tea (either the red or traditional variety can be used). For use in the bath: boil 4 tea bags in a litre of water and add to bath water. If you prefer to shower: after showering, soak cotton wool in the tea solution and rub onto your entire body including face. As tea tends to dry out the skin, apply a moisturing lotion afterwards.

Did you know that skin exposed to sun ages 30 years more than skin which is not!

CLICK HERE for a guide to sun protection according to your age. I know it sounds boring but when you've got elephant skin don't come to me looking for advice!

The most appropriate EXERCISE for kids in their 30s is some form of aerobic exercise three times a week. Include 15 minutes of weights to increase body mass, however, don't go over the 15 minutes as you run the risk of suffering injuries (we are not as fit as we were you know).

Remove BLACKHEADS and deep cleanse pores with the following homemade face mask: Beat the white of an egg with two tablespoons of corn flour. Apply the mask and leave on for 15 minutes. Then rinse off with water and if you have any left over, add a spoon of sugar or honey and have it for dessert.

from 25 to 35 ... stop the wrinkles

Your beauty is now at its peak but be careful, wrinkles will appear if you sunbathe without precautions. Photoageing: what is it and how it attacks. Ageing of the skin is caused by 2 factors: 30% by cronological ageing caused by the passing of the years. This appears late in the form of fine wrinkles, dryness and flaccidity. The other 70% is caused by photoageing which is produced by the sun, appears prematurely and causes deep wrinkles, hardened "elephant" skin, flaccidity, dark stains...it appears once you have used up your sun capital. Pretty, youthful and healthy skin. This is your objective at this point in your life. To achieve it and avoid the dreaded photoageing use protective face creams with antiageing components and antioxidant vitamins which neutralise the free radicals which the sun forms on your skin. During the hours of intense sun, stay under the parasol. During sumer, take vitamins A, E, C and F which will keep you in form and increase your skin cells' defenses. Moreover, the tone of your tan will be better.

It's important to repair imperfections. It is very important to use after-sun products. This doesn't just rehydrate and refresh your skin, it repairs possible damage to the collagen fibre which keeps the skin firm. Use a specific product for your face and another for your body and have a cold shower before applying to tone your skin.

from 35 to eternity ... avoid skin stains

This is the time to really take care of yourself and choose the best suncare products you can afford. Double the precautions. From 35 onwards it is best to substitute face after sun for a more concentrated after sun mask. As of 45, don't overdo it. Because the sun doesn't reach the depth of the wrinkles, they will be paler than the rest of your face and neck and really stand out - so a very dark tan won't be flattering at all. If you have a tendency towards couperosis (broken blood vessels), avoid the sun completely after 50 and use fake tan instead. Menopause, hormones and sun. Taking precautions doesn't mean avoiding the sun completely, in fact you need exposure for at least 10 minutes a day to prevent osteoporosis. In addition, the sun improves the secretion of hormones and prevents depression. To take advantage of all its benefits, take up an outdoor exercise this way you will strengthen your muscles more than in an artifically lit gym. Again, on returning from the beach take a cold shower to tone the skin. Free radicals cause flaccidity and skin stains. If you already have one of these problems, avoid direct exposure and enjoy the nice golden tone you get from the breeze in the shade of the parasol.
